Ed Parker Kenpo Knife Fighting Video

Here is a clip of Ed Parker demonstrating various ideas with a knife. I find it funny as some people don’t think Kenpo is anything but an empty hand system. Also, anyone who knows the AKKI knife fighting curriculum will recognize these techniques. That’s because Mr. Ed Parker taught these ideas to Mr. Paul Mills years ago. Enjoy!

awsome!!! i have never seen any knife fighting techniques (from any system) before. I know they are out there, but i have not seen them before. Mr. Parker made it look so simple, and they technique made so much sense as you watch him do it. i cant wait to learn some of these valuable skills.

That’s pretty cool! There’s so much functionality in this system that I never think of on my own. I was amazed at how Mr. Parker would strike with the knife cutting the tendons in the wrist and cutting the bicep on coming back in one attack. That will definitely disable your attacker. Nice video!

It makes me think of the constant “economy of motion” we hear about. The first strike demonstrated had what…4 seperate cuts with just the thrust and recoil of the strike. Its amazing how simple yet highly refined every movement was.
